Our Story
"Our mission is to help people who have cancer, or who have had cancer, become as healthy as possible through strength training and other physical activity."
PLEASE NOTE: Survival to Strength (S2S) is a collaboration of oncology qualified personal trainers and therapists who provide strength, balance, mobility and fitness training for people who have had a cancer diagnosis. Previously (2014-2026) we were a 501(c)3 nonprofit that offered free training sessions.
We continue our mission to help people who have cancer, or who have had cancer be as healthy as possible through strength training and other physical activity.
Our Goals:
- To offer 1:1 and small group training sessions with evidence-based individual oncology considerations for participants.
- To act as a colleague, mentor and resource for trainers, therapists, and oncology communities who want to share evidence-based practice and to develop oncology experience.
Our Mission
From Our Founder
Survival to Strength was founded because of the overwhelming evidence that maintaining muscle health is one of the most important things you can do for your overall well-being. Research consistently shows that regular physical activity strengthens muscles, tendons, and ligaments, builds bone density, and improves sleep, mood, and brain function. It also enhances immune system function and speeds up recovery, reducing complications along the way.
Physical activity is not just beneficial for your body—it can help prevent cancer and support your body in fighting cancer growth. Every system in your body functions better when you stay active. You don’t need to run a marathon to reap these benefits—mild to moderate exercise is enough. But if running a triathlon is your goal, we’re here to help you achieve it.
Cancer changes the way your body feels and functions, and you may be uncertain about what’s safe or possible for you. I believe physical activity education should be part of the treatment plan and that everyone deserves personalized guidance from a qualified trainer.
That’s why Survival to Strength exists. Our mission is to help you regain strength, improve your health, and support your journey to feeling your best.
Sincerely,
